LMD Process

It is important to balance our LMD roles.  Think of it as wearing three hats. Each hat reads Lead, Manage, Do respectively.  We wear our Lead hat and self-reflect and plan. Next, we wear our Manage hat; we research, organize, prioritize, and schedule.  Finally, we wear our Do hat and we make it happen.

LMD Example

We say to ourselves “I need to improve my diet”. We reflect on healthy things for example eating more vegetables.   We lay out conditions such as: the vegetables must be high in nutrition, they must taste good, and they must be easy to prepare.  We research vegetable recipes, create a list of healthy meals, create a grocery list, and schedule a visit to the store.  Finally, we go to the store, buy healthy vegetables, make a healthy meal, and we enjoy it.

Breaking it Down

Lead
Self-reflection - need to improve diet
Conditions – nutritional, tasty, easy to prepare

Manage
Research – healthy vegetable-rich meals
Organize – create a grocery list
Schedule – plan a trip to the store

Do
Go to the store
Buy vegetables
Prepare the meal

The LMD process provides a practical means to go from a high level thought to the next item on your daily To Do list.
